The movie sequences here show the movement of structure in the OH Meinel band airglow at Albuquerque, NM. The raw all sky images have been processed using a time difference method to highlight structure and contrast resulting from atmospheric gravity waves propagating through the emission layer near 87 km altitude. The images were acquired every two minutes. They have been rotated to project North at the top and East to the right. Time is in UT.
As the time sequence progresses, and repeats, mark one of the waves on the screen with your eye (and image time), and note how long it takes for the following wave to reach the marked waves position, this time is the period for the monochromatic features (typically ~10 minutes).
